Grade 3/4 Butterfly Project - May 31, 2011
Grade 3/4 raised butterflies in our classroom this month as part of our science unit on Animal Life Cycles. We each started with two tiny caterpillars that grew into big fuzzy caterpillars pretty quickly. After they formed a chrysalis we waited a few days and our butterflies started to appear. Most of us got to watch one emerge and it was very exciting. Yesterday we let them go to live the rest of their lives in nature but they didn't want to leave us! Most of them hung around to take a sip from our dandelions and we got to get a really close look at them before they finally figured out that they could fly away.

Warner School Celebrates Yet Another Great Graduation - May 27, 2011
Nine Grade 12 students were honored by both the school and the community in one of the best graduation ceremonies ever. The evening started with the boys driving the girls into the ceremony in their vintage trucks. Two great videos (done by Megan Coverdale, Lexi Eldridge, Allie Burke, and Mattea Pittman) as well as great speeches from all the speakers gave everyone an enjoyable evening. Special thanks goes out to Adena Heppler for being the Grad Coordinator and thank you to all others who helped make this night a great success.
Warner Students off to Ottawa in an Encounters With Canada Adventure! - May 26, 2011
This coming fall, at least three students from Warner School will be heading off to Ottawa to take part in the Encounters with Canada program. These students will spend one week connecting with other youth from all around Canada. We wish all of these students the best and we know you will be great ambassadors for Warner School.
"Old Time Track" abounds in Warner - May 24, 2011
Track and field is alive and well in Warner. The season kicked off in early may with over 20 athletes starting their training. The school meet was held on May 12 and their were many fine performances. Divisions for the grades 6-9 athletes was held in Taber on May 18. Our best performance was from Jon Bolokoski who earned three third place finishes.
This year's senior zone meet in Lethbridge on May 24 was most interesting. Rain was falling all day, but our four athletes (Heather Berzins, Sam Sutherland, Alexis Larsen, and Brittney Redlick) had an excellent day with all four qualifying for Provincials and first place finishes for both Alexis and Heather. All four will be in Edmonton on June 3/4 for Provincials and we wish them all the best in their competitions.
Great job everyone!!!!

Jack and the Beanstalk Receives Rave Reviews
- May 7, 2011
On Thursday evening, the Grade 1/2/3 class performed a one time only showing of their musical play "Jack and the Beanstalk". All cast put on superb performances and should be congratulated for their great participation. In one intense scene, 'Jack' cut the beanstalk down in dramatic fashion. This is the third musical in as many years for the Grade 1/2/3 classes so they are beginning to be regular pros at this. After seeing all the smiles on their faces, their sense of pride and satisfaction could easily be seen. Great job everyone and thank you to Mrs. Pittman and her intern Miss Kusick for directing this wonderful production!
Warner Students "Hamming" it Up! - May 4, 2011
Back in the fall, the students of Warner School ventured out into the community to perform a community service by raking leaves at various houses. One of those houses was the home of Larry Barnett who just happened to be a ham radio operator. Since Warner School had been exploring options for more alternative learning opportunities, talks ensued. One thing led to another and by the spring, students began to start going to his home to learn the basics of ham radio operations as well as Morse Code. The students have definitely enjoyed this new/old form of texting and look forward to future visits to learn more about the world of ham radio. Thank you to Larry for making this opportunity available!!!
